Insurance by Someone Who’s Actually Driven a Stage

For over 20 years, I lived and breathed rallying, not just the sideways-in-fifth kind, but the nuts-and-bolts of actually running the British Rally Championship. That meant sorting everything from sponsorship deals and TV coverage to writing the rulebook and shaping the future of young drivers. Glamorous? Occasionally. Chaotic? Almost always. But underneath it all was one constant – risk, and how to manage the hell out of it.

Fast-forward a decade, and now I work in insurance. Yes, insurance. And no, I haven’t gone soft.

Because here’s the thing, motorsport insurance isn’t solely box ticking and hoping for the best. It’s just like rallying in that you’ve got to know every twist in the road before you get there. It’s about detail, anticipation, and understanding exactly what is at stake when a gearbox explodes or your service van gets stolen three hours before a stage.

And yet, too many still end up with policies built by someone who’s thinks pacenotes are angry Post-its read at speed, let alone had to explain to an insurer what a sequential gearbox is or why you’re carrying 16 tyres in the back of a transit.

That’s why at Lynx we are different (in a good way). Because I’ve been there. I’ve written the regs and managed the chaos. And now I use that same level of obsessive attention to detail making sure my clients insurance cover actually does what they think it does.

Insurance policies can be a minefield of fine print, vague exclusions, and legal waffle that would confuse a judge. At Lynx, we cut through the noise. We speak your language. I sit down with every client and explain, in plain English (albeit with a slight Yorkshire accent), what’s covered, what isn’t.

We don’t do cookie-cutter policies. We build cover that fits your setup whether you’re rallying, circuit racing, storing cars, in transit, or managing an event. It’s not just about “having insurance”; it’s about knowing exactly how you’re protected when it all goes sideways.

Motorsport is unpredictable. Your insurance shouldn’t be.
So if you’re ready to work with someone who’s done more than just read tap computer keys, give us a shout.

And for the record, the name Lynx comes from my first career, flying the military’s Lynx helicopter. Another job where staying calm, precise and properly covered wasn’t optional.

Get in touch with us today because proper motorsport cover doesn’t come from a call centre.
